WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Signs of progress and healing are in Winston County.

The hospital that has not been used since a tornado tore through Louisville last year is now being demolished.

Tearing down this decades old building is the first step to moving forward in Winston County, the next…

“Get the design finalized , and then once we do that, we put it out for bid for the construction,” says Chief Executive Officer, Paul Black.

Even though the new hospital design is not completley hammered out, offcials have a plan.

“15 hospital beds, 10 bed psych unit, we were thinking about two stories, looks like it will be a one story building. We’re still utilizing the cottage concept for the nursing home, we will have a clinic on site,” says Black.

and some new features are in the works.

“We’re looking to make it a lake and around the lake we want to have a walking trail,” says Black.

It’s all part of plan to make patients and their families feel more at home, passing on a legacy that started in this building.

“A lot of people have been born, a lot of family members have passed away, a lot of people have been healed in these buildings,” says Black.

and as the building falls, the focus is on rebuilding, helping this community move forward, brick by brick.

Construction on the new building should start in October and will take a little over two years to complete.
