COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Some students will soon be hammering away on run-down homes in the Golden Triangle.

At Tuesday’s Columbus Rotary Club, officials announced hundreds of kids will be in Starkville, Columbus, and West point to work on homes, as part of World Changers.

World Changers is a Christian organization that sends kids to areas across the world to work on construction projects.

250 students will be in the Golden Triangle working on 25 homes.

“Usually its not too hard to get them [students] because they want to go on a mission trip, and they want to be with their friends during the summer,” said Marcus Cochran, Social Coordinator. “Each student pays $269 to be able to come and sleep on the floor in a church or school in one of those cities. ”

Groups are typically housed in local schools, churches, or college facilities. Breakfast, lunch, dinner are provided.

In preparation for the week, youth are required to complete a pre-project study based on the theme for the year, including a local work project.
