Video: Youth Group Delivers Christmas Cheer

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – An area youth group teams up with Contact Helpline to make the holiday season brighter for elderly residents.

Payne Chapel M.B. Church and the organization delivered 25 boxes to residents in Monroe, Clay, and Oktibbeha counties on Tuesday.

Contact Helpline calls elderly and disabled residents, who live alone, to make sure they are safe.

The church’s reassurance program allows the teens to share their time and talk with residents.

It’s an event the youth enjoy.

“A way of doing what God told us to do, and I think it’s important for kids our age and younger to do this and to express the Christmas spirit,” said church member Jaylon Eggerson.

The church has made the deliveries since 2011.
