MSU, Ole Miss Net A Combined Seven Phil Steele All-Americans

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – The Mississippi State and Ole Miss football teams have a combined seven players named to writer Phil Steele’s preseason All-American lists.

MSU senior quarterback Dak Prescott and junior defensive lineman Chris Jones (a Houston native) are third-team preseason All-Americans. The two QBs ahead of Prescott are Southern Cal’s Cody Kessler and TCU’s Trevone Boykin.

Steele names senior cornerback Will Redmond to his fourth team. Neither Jones nor Redmond started a game for State in 2014. Those three, along with junior receiver De’Runnya Wilson, also called “Bear,” are named to the All-SEC teams, Prescott being a first-team selection.

Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and junior tight end Evan Engram are two of Steele’s first team All-Americans. The two are both juniors. Tunsil is projected by many to be a top five pick in next year’s NFL Draft.

Junior wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche are on the second team.

Eleven Rebels are on Steele’s all-conference squads. Tunsil, Engram, Treadwell and Nkemdiche are all first-team selections.
