Video: Macon Cracks Down On Nightclubs

MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – While the party go late into the night in Times Square, celebrating the new year and beyond will end early in Macon.

Macon Police now have a law that will help them keep the peace and quiet after midnight.

The board of alderman recently voted unanimously to require nightclubs in the area to close at 12:00am. Everyone must be off the premises of those nightclubs by 12:30am.

City leaders are responding to numerous complaints from residents over the new law.

The people that live near the nightclubs say the noise and alcohol continues into the early morning hours, and for law enforcement, that means dealing with bad behavior, from litterbugs to public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and even assaults.
