Alabama ( WCBI) – Gay Couples in Alabama will be able to get a marriage License on Monday.

Many Alabama residents are not on board with the change.

” In 2006 81% of people in the state of Alabama said marriage should be between a man and a women, ” says Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley.

Almost ten years later, and it seems many people still agree with that vote.

” The Bible says that it’s wrong, Amen.  And we’re a nation that’s built under God, and we have to abide the laws of God, ” says Alabama Minister, Monica Brown.

” I think it is totally against what the bible teaches. And I love people, and I believe in people having their rights, but I just don’t think this is something that should be done, ” say Lucretia Mcnees of Vernon.

Residents are not the only ones taking a stand again legalizing gay marriage.

In Carrollton, Picken’s County’s Probate Judge refuses to do anymore marriages as of yesterday.

A decision that has put a damper on Crystal Jones’ day as she came to the court house to get a marriage license.

” I don’t think it’s fair that they don’t allow anyone to get a marriage license, everyone should have a fair chance, ” says Crystal Jones.

But, she does agree with the judge.

“I believe that God made Adam and Eve for a reason, and I don’t believe that gay marriages should be allowed, because he made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve,” says Jones.

The new stance on marriage licenses in Pickens county doesn’t mean couples are left out. Alabama law alLows residents to apply for a marriage license in any county.

If you are wondering if the judge can legally stop issuing licenses Alabama law seems to back his position up. The Alabama code says the Judge may issue a license it does not say shall .
