EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) – Customers of a Kilmichael based bank now have another location opened for their convenience.
The Bank of Kilmichael opened their fourth location in Eupora.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the grand opening.

The bank is a family owned businesses, that has been opened for more than 100 years.

The other locations are in Mathiston, Winona and Kilmichael.
Friday’s grand opening of the bank is proof that small businesses can thrive in a competitive world.

For more than 100 years, The Bank of Kilmichael has been in business.

Family-owned, the four locations are all in rural areas along highway 82.

In a competitive industry, Owner Buddy Mortimer, says there is a simple reason for their success.

“Friendly goes along way with our bank and we think we take care of our customers and that’s why we keep getting repeat customers,” said Mortimer.

Being a locally-owned business also means there are some unique benefits for customers.

“We have the opportunity to be more flexiable than some of the larger banks. When you come in to talk to us about a loan, you’re talking to the decision maker that can tell you yes or no,” said Mortimer.

Keeping up with the pace of larger corporations also means you have to stay ahead of changing times.

“We may be small but we have technology products, mobile banking, mobile phone banking all that stuff, like the larger banks do. Now there are some product lines that we don’t carry but flexibility is key,” said Senior Vice-President, Stan Blaylock.

And for this business, serving their community means working for their friends and family.

“This is my community, this is my hometown Webster County. I’ve always loved Webster County and we go to the grocery store with these people, we go to church with the people we serve everyday, so we are embedded here, we’re here for the long haul,” added Blaylock.

The Eupora branch opened in August.
