Video: Students Moving into New Oxford High School

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) – After a long wait, the new Oxford High School campus is finally opening.
The $30 million facility on Sisk Avenue will have its first classes on Tuesday, but on Saturday workers were still putting on some of the finishing touches on the four-building complex.
On Saturday, students helped move from the current overcrowded building a short distance away.
The junior marine ROTC detachment is just one of many groups that should benefit from their new surroundings.
But senior Michael Scott says it’s hard leave a place they’ve grown so accustomed to.
“I kind of like things the old way how they’re run and stuff. I guess I’d rather just stick it out the old way for one more semester. But it’s also exciting that we’re getting a new place and we get to graduate on a new stage.”
Even though they’ll be in a new building, students will still use the old high school’s athletic fields and facilities, along with the theater auditorium.
