UPDATE- Victim Of Friday Night Fire Identified

COLUMBUS ( WCBI) – A Columbus woman is dead following a Friday night fire in the city.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says 41 year old Melissa Hughes died when a trailer located at 2610 7th Avenue North burned just after 10:00 PM.  An autopsy is being ordered but Merchant says smoke inhalation is the likely cause of death . 2 others in the home were able to escape.  The State Fire Marshall along with Columbus Fire Department Investigators continue to look for the cause of a Friday night fire .

Columbus Fire Department Education and Public Information Officer Anthony Colom says the state arrived just after 1:00 AM Saturday to assist in the probe. Colom says currently no obvious cause has surfaced .
