Video: Area Program Encourages Youth To Help In Tobacco Prevention

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI-TV) – There’s a discussion today about how young people can help others avoid tobacco use.

More than 100 students were at a conference Wednesday in Starkville at the Mill. It focuses on youth leadership to spread the word about the dangers of tobacco.

Middle school students learned how they can help. It’s called “Generation Free.”

“Actually with middle school students are very receptive to everything we say because we are looked at as peers with where they are at,” Generation Free’s Lindsay Hill said. “So telling them about the effects of tobacco has on them has a longing effect on their life.”

The conference is a state department of health program.
