STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Starkville Fire Department is getting a much needed donation thanks to Firehouse Subs.

The department received 9 sets of dive gear from the firehouse subs public safety foundation.

The donated equipment will replace outdated gear, helping firefighters with underwater missions.

“It will provide a much needed service in this area, for any type of dive rescue or dive recovery. It’ll enable us to help law enforcement recover evidence,” said Chief Rodger Mann of the Starkville Fire Department.

“It’s just a way to say thank you to our first responders, Starkville Fire Department and really the community as a whole,” said William Criag, Franchise Owner of Firehouse Subs in Starkville.

The gear is valued around $20,000. Local firefighter and city leaders attended the celebration.
