TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo residents and city leaders continue to come up with ideas for a proposed community task force. Mayor Jason Shelton wants to create the group to help unify the community and insure all citizens have a voice on various issues.

Thursday’s meeting brought input from citizens, business people and city employees.

“It’s going to be going out into the neighborhoods, community building, enhancing quality of life and we have a ton of great events right here in Fairpark in Tupelo but a lot of people for various reasons can’t attend those events so we’re going to go into the different neighborhoods , and really be proactive in really reaching out to every part of the city of Tupelo.”

The task force is still in the planning stages, but the City Council has approved 30 thousand dollars for the effort.
