[bitsontherun qQpOlFRW]LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Lowndes County woman gets a wild ride but escapes serious injury this morning.

Paige Blankenship, 38, was westbound on Yorkville Road near Casey Lane just east of Columbus near New Hope just after 7 this morning when an eastbound pickup truck crossed into her lane.

She swerved to miss the truck and her Chevrolet Impala spun out of control and flipped into a small creek on the north side of the road. As water started coming into the car, she was able to escape with the help of a sheriff’s deputy who arrived on the scene.

She was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the pickup didn’t stop but was later found to be a student at New Hope High School. He told deputies his windshield was fogged.
