STARKVILLEE, Miss. – (WCBI) There’s a new place to play in Starkville.

School officials, community members and students gathered to celebrate the opening of Friendship Playground at Sudduth Elementary Friday.

Thanks to state and federal grants as well as private donations, the $80,000 playground, that is handicap accessible, is now open to the public.

One special education teacher says the addition shows that parent involvement is key to the school district’s success.

” Here at Sudduth, we are very blessed with a very active PTA. This has been a pleasure teaching here, with parents we see in the hallways all the time. They are very active,” says Pre-K Special Education teacher Bill Snider.

The playground is open to the public on the weekends and in the afternoons after school has closed.
