WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — It was all surprises as Oak Hill Elementary Principal Jane Rives recently announced retirement. With a special get together of friends and former students Mrs. Rives was surprised Tuesday morning to see so many wishing her a good farewell. Rives has served as and educator for 48 years. Thanks to Robin’s Boutique, Renaldo the jeweler presented Rives with a special bracelet. Rives will spend her time with her friends the “Golden Girls” and traveling to Birmingham to see her son and two grandbabies. It was a tearful farewell, the only one missing was her late husband James Rives who passed away in 1997.
Rives will step down at the end of the school semester.
