TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a fun day for the family Saturday at Tupelo’s Oren Dunn Museum.

The annual harvest festival allowed residents to tour the museum and take advantage of food and crafts, and entertainment. Demonstrators were on hand to show what life was like in rural Mississippi in the 1800s. The event raises funds for important restoration projects, including the Long’s Laundry sign.

“The sign behind me, the Long’s Laundry sign, we want to start a restoration process on that. We are in the business to keep things here. The Dudies Diner and the Long’s Laundry sign are both icons of Tupelo and people have lots of memories about those and we’d love to have them share those with us,” said Janie Anthony from the Oren Dunn Museum.

Anthony says work is already well under way on the Dudies Diner display, including work on the roof and interior. That Tupelo icon stood many years just south of Cross Town about where Atlanta Bread is located today.
