Catfish Alley Receives Money for Improvements

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Improvements are on the way for one of Columbus’s most famous streets.

The Columbus City Council has allocated $25,000 to make improvements on Catfish Alley.

The money comes from remaining obligation bond funds used for paving streets it the city’s six wards.

Catfish Alley became an issue in August when family members of Sallie May Jones petitioned the city to change the name of Fourth Street South to Sallie May Jones Catfish Alley.
