CHICKASAW CO., Miss. – (WCBI) Chickasaw County is the latest to try to take advantage of the Highway 45 Alternate corridor as a jobs magnet in the future.
The county has signed a five-year option on 959 acres between Okolona and the Egypt community as the region’s newest megasite. Known as the Chickasaw County Rail Site, the property has access to both Highway 45 and the Kansas City Southern rail line.
TVA has a major substation nearby and the Aberdeen Port is less than 13 miles away. Economic development experts say the site is key to attracting new industries and note the Blue Springs megasite was in place for six years before Toyota decided to locate there. West Point and Lowndes County have similar megasitres in place.
