Civil Rights Leader Slated to Speak in Columbus Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) Bringing the Civil Rights movement into perspective 50 years later will be the focus of a discussion in Columbus Tuesday night.

Flonzie Brown Wright will the discuss the movement in contemporary times at the R. E. Hunt Museum and Cultural Center.

The discussion was canceled by icy weather last week.

Wright helped register thousands of blacks to vote in the early 1960s and was the first African American woman elected to office in post reconstruction Mississippi. The program is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
