Clay County Mulling Truck Permits

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Logging companies and other truckers trying to do business in Clay County may soon get some relief.

For several years, the county has required truckers traveling regularly from logging operations and other sites to get a permit. But some unclear rules make it difficult for haulers to get permits.

Since the first of the year, supervisors have been trying to clean up those problems. They have agreed on a $35,000 bond to help repair roads damaged by heavy trucks, but they can’t agree on other county wide policies. Several proposals from Board Attorney Bob Marshall have yet to satisfy all five board members.
