Girls Only: MSU Conservation Camp in Full Swing

STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) Young women take over the great outdoors. A two day conference is in full swing at Mississippi State University.

The Conservation Career Discovery Day is exposing the female teens to career options, based on their love of wildlife and science.

The 9th-12th graders will enjoy camping, bird watching, water sampling.

“We don’t have a lot of women in this field. Its not something that many women are even aware of. Its probably intimidating .It’s male dominated, and it can be strenuous work. Work can be difficult to find. We are trying to show these young women by having all female professional instructors, that this is something they can do,” says MSU Extension Instructor Leslie Burger.

The conference wraps up Saturday evening.
