Video: Grant to Address Smithville Sewer Issues

SMITHVILLE, Miss. — Mayor Gregg Kennedy received notice from Governor Phil Bryant that the Town of Smithville’s application for Small Government Public Facilities funds through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program in the amount of $449,646 was approved by the Mississippi Development Authority.

According to Mayor Gregg Kennedy, “This Project will involve the Eastern subdivisions of the Town, in the past years we have had sewer problems with this area. It will consist of cleaning and tving the existing lines and then making repairs as needed. It will consist of some new manholes and eliminating one current manhole. This project will work hand in hand with the Sewer Lift Station and Force Main under design at the new school. We are very grateful to receive this grant through the MDA. A special thanks to Rep. Donnie Bell, Rep. Chris Brown and Senator Hob Bryan for supporting our efforts on this project.”
