OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum in Starkville takes going green to a whole new level. Friday (12-7) afternoon students and faculty from Mississippi State University’s Department of Landscape and Architecture pitched in to turn the roof of the pavilion into a green roof. Six inches of soil, flowers, and various greens were planted on top of the pavilion to demonstrate innovative storm water design techniques. It’s a way to beautify the landscape and help the environment at the same time. The site should serve as an example for the entire region to show how storm water can be used to create an amenity. Landscaping on the building began in 2009.
