Highway 82-45A Loop Set to Open

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A new interchange at a dangerous Highway 82 intersection should be open next month.

State transportation officials say the new loop exit for eastbound drivers trying to go north from Highway 82 to Highway 45 Alternate toward West Point is set to open July 17.

The $1.5 million project will keep drivers from having to cross busy Highway 45A southbound to go northbound. The exit has been the scene of numerous accidents.
