Northeast Miss. (WCBI) – The state’s unemployment rate continued to drop in February but the overall employment growth during the past year remains slow.

New numbers show the statewide adjusted jobless rate fell 1.6 percent in February from a year ago. Almost 5 thousand more people were working this year than last. A big part of the jobless rate decline came because fewer people were in the work force.

Every county in Northeast Mississippi had a lower rate from last year but only a handful saw an actual increase in the number of residents who had jobs.
