GOLDEN, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a busy day for citizens in Itawamba County as customers of the Regional Water System voted on three spots for the Northeast Itawamba Water Associations board of directors.

The voting started early Saturday morning at Salem Community Center.

Current spots up for grabs include those currently held by Reed Adams, Oneal Hammock and Steve Holcomb. Those running include Sandra Rayburn up for Hammock’s spot and Johnny Yeilding, who is running against Holcomb.

According to Board Member Steve Holcomb, “The association belongs to the people and there will be some issues we’re looking at presently, water source for the future, not just next year or two but years down the road.”

Nominations for the positions were garnered from water association customers who attended the system’s annual meeting back in December. Polls opened at 7:00a.m. and closed at 7:00p.m.
