COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -The future for Omnova Solutions and its striking union workers is settled.
In May of 2010 the steel workers union went on strike over issues dealing with seniority and benefits. A month ago strikers ceased after the Federal Labor Board agreed with Omnova Solutions to decertify the union.
Union President Jay Lawrence says, “The funding for the strikers has run out and since the plant will now be used as a distribution center starting at the end of the year strikers have given up their fight and are looking for work else where.”
Currently the plant employs close to 175 employees, many of whom will be out of work after the conversion of the plant.
