Video: Pontotoc County Crash Claims Life of Teenager

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY PATROL

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating a Friday evening crash in Pontotoc County that claimed the life of an Olive Branch resident. Troopers were dispatched to US 278 in Pontotoc County at 10:51pm, Friday night, to investigate a head-on collision near Thaxton.

Upon arriving it appeared Luke C Phillips, 19, of Olive Branch, was driving a 2005 Nissan ELS and  traveling east bound in the west bound lane when his vehicle collided head-on into a west bound Mazda MPV, driven by Lloyd Nellams, 43, of Hampton, VA.

Phillips died on the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

Nellams was airlifted to NMMC with life-threatening injuries.
