Video: Retirement Celebration Held for Former Fire Chief

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — After three decades of service, a retirement party was held Saturday for the former chief of Columbus Fire and Rescue.

Kenneth Moore began his career with the department in 1984 and was fire chief for 9 years.

Moore was presented a plaque by Mayor Robert Smith for his 30 years of service and other retirement gifts.

The event was held at Columbus High School and attended by a host of family, friends and Columbus firefighters.

Moore says he can’t believe just how quickly the time has gone by.

“It seems like it was just yesterday that when I started my career with Columbus Fire and Rescue as a fireman riding on the back of the truck in those days. Time has flown and it’s been an honor and a privilege to work for the Columbus Fire and Rescue for over 30 years,” says Moore.

Moore says he’s not done working just yet. He plans to take another position in Louisiana.
