STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-The Starkville community got a chance to learn how to stay healthy from head to toe.

The Health and Wellness Fair was held at the Sportsplex in Starkville Saturday where there were a number of vendors from the community like Snap fitness, OCH Regional Hospital, and many others. Special guest Patrick House, Season 10 of the Biggest Loser winner was there to lead kids through an exercise. The fair is a way to promote healthy living to children by teaching them fun ways to eat healthy and stay active.

“Well we all know that Mississippi ranks high as far as obesity goes and I think it’s up to us as a community to help children understand how important it is to start at a young age to think about what their eating, getting them outside and moving,” says Karen Templeton.

“I’m excited to be here in Starkville at the health fair here. And this was one of the things I really wanted to fit in and make sure I could be here. Childhood obesity is such a prevalant problem not only in Mississippi, but all over the country and so to be able to be here today and see all the kids here and the Easter Bunny is here and have my family with me it’s a really exciting day and we’re going to have a lot of fun,” says Patrick House, Season 10 Biggest Loser Winner.

There were also free health screenings at Saturday’s event.
