PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — It looks almost complete but it’ll probably be September before the new Tanglefoot Trail is open for use.

The 44-mile former railroad bed will give cyclists, walkers and runners a paved link between New Albany and Houston. All but the last four miles are paved but some work remains on bridges.

And construction is just beginning on rain shelters, three welcome stations and four smaller whistle stops. Work on the trail is to be finished by early June and on the buildings by August 1st.

But trail administrators say it’ll probably be September before all the work is certified and the trail can open.
