NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Thursday (4-11) afternoon’s tornado destroyed or damaged more than 50 homes in Noxubee County.
The debris field is massive.
It’s still a little early to put a dollar amount on the destruction, but emergency management officials are working on it.
In the meantime, volunteers are helping by placing storm debris, near right of ways, in areas like Highway 21 and College Street in Shuqualak.
Noxubee County EMA Director Bobby Mann says, “ There is a tremendous amount of debris, and the volunteers have done a good job trying to assist people that might not have the proper equipment to get the stuff cleaned up.”
EMA officials hope to the have the debris removed, and a dollar value on the damage, by the end of the week.
