Tupelo Desires Community Input on Transportation Plan Development

TUPELO, Miss. (Press Release) — Tupelo is requesting community input regarding the development of the city’s comprehensive transportation plan through an on-line survey. The Tupelo Major Thoroughfare program has utilized locally collected tax dollars to pay for needed transportation improvements along many of the major travel corridors in the city for over two decades. The program has successfully identified transportation system needs, created support for local funding and completed many necessary transportation infrastructure improvements. The transportation improvement plan is regularly updated to identify new transportation needs and opportunities.

Development of the Tupelo Comprehensive Transportation Plan will ensure a comprehensive approach to transportation infrastructure investment to provide opportunities not only for vehicular traffic but the plan development will also examine the potential need for inclusion of alternative modes of transportation including bicycles, pedestrians, and public transportation.

The result of the planning process will be a Comprehensive Transportation Plan focused on the transportation investment needed to take Tupelo through the year 2035.

Individuals can visit the study website at www.civil-link.com/survey to complete an on-line survey about transportation needs, opportunities, and priorities within the Tupelo.
