Video: UPDATE: Driver Involved in Columbus Crash Dies

COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) A Macon woman involved in a single car crash in Columbus Tuesday night passes away. Chastity Triplett of Macon died at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle in Columbus.

Columbus police responded to Hwy. 82 E., right before the 18th Ave. Exit around 5:45 pm. Tuesday. Triplett was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix and skidded down the slippery embankment, right before the exit.

When Columbus police officers arrived, she had fallen out of the vehicle and reportedly told the officer that she was dying.

According to reports, Triplett suffered a heart attack, likely causing the accident. Sources close to the family say Triplett had a pre-existing heart condition.

She was 35-years old.
