WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The West Point teenager police say is the primary suspect in his father’s shooting death could be charged soon.
The 14-year-old boy is currently being treated in a Jackson hospital.
He was found with a self-inflicted knife wound hours after his father,Randy Kelly,41, was found dead Thursday morning with a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators say it appears Kelly was shot while he was sleeping.
Police Chief Tim Brinkley told us the boy, whose name is being withheld, is expected to be released from the hospital tonight and returned to West Point where he could face charges.
Brinkley stopped short of saying whether someone else was involved in the shooting.
