TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi’s Chief Law Enforcement officer spent some time Monday afternoon talking with young men and women about police work and sports.
In fact, Attorney General Jim Hood pitched during a game of “Quickball” at Tupelo’s Northside Boys and Girls Club. Hood was there on behalf of the “Cal Ripken Sr Foundation” to welcome youngsters back to their club for after school programs and activities. Hood says the foundation supports the mission of the Boys and Girls clubs nationwide.

“Boys and Girls Club is kind of the base, where programs like Cal Ripken Foundation program are able to reach kids and try to encourage them to do better in life and it’s just a good opportunity and there again the magic draw for it is baseball, so you have a game, play it and they will come.”

Last week members of the Foundation took part in a clean up day at the Tupelo club.
