Video: Columbus Mayor Running Again

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus Mayor Robert Smith wants four more years.

During a press conference Monday (12/10), Smith announced that he wants to continue the work of moving Columbus in a positive dirrection.

Smith wants a thgird term at that position.

He says he is happy with the progress made over the last 7 years and wants to continue working.

His top two prorities are improving infrastructure and creating jobs. 

“We can’t just drop the ball. Also from an economic development standpoint, we want to work with, continue to work with the board of supervisors, the Link and do whatever is necessary from the city’s standpoint that we need to do to help continue to bring industry to the city and create jobs, ” said Smith.

So far no one else has announced intentions to run.

The qualifying begins in January. 

The deadline is March 8th.

The primary election is May 7th, general election is June 4th.
