Video: Cotton Mill Project Officials Break Ground

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — After years of planning, developers of the Cotton Mill project held a ground breaking today in Starkville.

The 6-acre plaza will include a 117-room Holiday Inn with a steak house and three major retailers.

Starkville played a major role in helping the project get off the ground. The developer is Jackson-based Nicholas Properties. The plaza is expected to bring in more tourist and job opportunities.

“It’s going to represent a lot economic impact on the city,” Nicholas Properties President Mark Nicholas said. “You’re looking at a minimum of over 160 jobs to this area.”

Officials estimate the Cotton Mill Plaza will open sometime in summer next year.
