Video: Defense Calls Final Witness in Columbus Shooting Trial

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The last defense witness is called to the stand Thursday in a Columbus shooting trial.  Joel Jones is accused of pulling the trigger in a June 2012 shotgun shooting.
Zachariah Johnson was shot in the chest, head, and arm. He’s now blind. Another man was also hit. A gun expert testified no gunpowder residue was found on Jones’ hands but was found on another man.

Today’s last witness, Deandre Tillman, who also is charged in the case, testified he didn’t see Jones with a gun that night but did see the other man. He is identified as Kamal Conner but police have been unable to find him.Jones is charged with two counts of aggravated assault. If convicted, he faces 20 years on each count.  The state is expected to call rebuttal witnesses Friday morning and then the case will go to the jury.
