Video: Hamilton Residents Enjoy Their Snow Day

HAMILTON, Miss. (WCBI) – Most of Northeast Mississippi has seen several inches of snow throughout the day,and right now,big flakes are still falling in Columbus.
Schools are out and businesses are closed, which makes for a perfect snow day for kids and even adults.

It’s a winter wonderland for the area. Not only is it the first snow of winter, it’s also the first snow in two years. Many spent the day outdoors, enjoying the rare weather.

“Well I haven’t really seen snow too much, it’s snowed a few times but it never really stuck like this, so when I saw it today, I was actually excited because I didn’t think it would actually stick,” said Hamilton resident, Aron Shelton.

Snow amounts ranged from a slight coating to more than 5 inches. Residents in Hamilton, Mississippi are taking advantage of the several inches of snow that fell in their area.

“When it first started snowing we decided we would come out here and gather some up before it went away, then it started snowing a little bit harder, so we’re just out here having a snow ball fight,” said Hamilton resident, Chelsea Trease.

From building a snowman to throwing snowballs, a day off from school is always a plus for children.

“It’s really great to come out here and play in the snow today,” said Hamilton resident, Lee Bruff.

“We’re probably going to make some snow cream, later too, we have buckets out here to catch some and then we’re going to have a snow ball war,” said Hamilton resident, Lee Bruff.
