WEST POINT, Miss. – (WCBI) Directing the best and brightest down the path of success is the ultimate goal for the Mississippi Association for Gifted Children.

Monday, the organization’s executive director shared advice on how to identify these special students to educators at Church Hill Elementary in West Point.

Carol Paola also discussed methods to best serve their educational needs.

Paola says students who are developmentally ahead of their peers need to be challenged everyday.

“If the classroom teacher does not find the time to address those special needs of that gifted child, that gifted child may just sit and do nothing. They are extremely capable, they have a great deal of potential, but high expectations are very important,” says Paola.

Paola also hosted a presentation for parents of gifted children.
