STEWART, Miss. (WCBI) – May’s Maze is a tricky one.

“You’re going to get lost, that’s for sure. But there is always a way out, and plenty of people out there helping you find your way out,” said co-owner Monica May.

Ten acres of Stewart farmland to navigate in the dark. The May family changes the maze pattern each season. This year, it’s all about Mississippi music. They cut the maze into the corn during the summer when it’s only a foot or two tall. Mississippi State University Agriculture Extension Agent Stanley Wise helps them out.

“We draw a picture, submit it to him, and then he puts it in the GPS. Then, we follow him with a lawn mower. We hide stations in the maze so people have to go around and find the stations and stamp their card. At the end of the year, we have a drawing and we give away three $100 bills,” May said.

The maze is very family friendly and is also open during daylight. But, if you come after sundown, don’t forget a flashlight.

“I haven’t been spooked out, but I’m hoping that nothing jumps out at me,” said MSU student and first time visitor Jordan Smith.

There is also live entertainment every weekend, food, pumpkins and games, and the “Zippin’ Pippin’ Zip Line.” It’s a 1,400 foot long zip across the maze.

May’s Maze is open Friday 5:00-10:00 p.m. and Saturday 1:00 to 10:00 p.m. The farm is located in Stewart on Lodi Road, and will be open through the second week of November. In November the maze will be open on Saturday 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.
