FULTON, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a time for songs, prayer and reflection on the civil rights movement for African Americans. The Student Government Association at ICC Tupelo sponsored a Celebration of Black History.

The lunchtime program featured former ICC student and star basketball player Ramon Gary, who now works with NMMC as a physical therapist assistant. He talked about the importance of working hard, staying in school and setting and refining goals.

” I’m just trying to encourage them on how important education is, how important it is to finish high school and to pursue your careers in college and then just on into the workforce today. Take what you learned back then and kind of apply it to your everyday life.”

Gary has been inducted into the ICC Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also elected Mr ICC during his time at the school.
