Video: Lauderdale Man Dies in Fatal Car Accident

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Lauderdale man dies after a morning car accident in Lowndes County.

It happened this morning at about 10:30 at the intersection of Highway 45 South and Primrose Road in Lowndes County.

According to MHP Public Information Officer Criss Turnipseed, 31-year-old Deon L. Herlong of Lauderdale, the driver of the Chevy Tahoe, was stopped, attempting to make a left turn on Primrose Road.

Turnipseed said an 18-wheeler driven by 36-year-old Jeremy Holliman rear-ended the Tahoe, forcing it off the road.

People at the scene say the SUV was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler owned by Columbus Scrap and Metal. The SUV was forced off the road.

Holliman was pronounced dead on the scene.

The 18-wheeler was hauling a load of scrap.
