LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- A dispute that has spanned 2 decades in Louisville is finally over.
The mayor and board of alderman reached an agreement with Jake’s Recycling.
The city will take possession of all business property inside the city limits in exchange for a large site outside of the city reserved for Jake’s Recycling.
Louisville accepted the land transfer, approved the leases and authorized the dismissal of all pending litigation with the landowner.
The mayor tells us it’s a win-win.
The city of Louisville also adopted a hotel tax.
The mayor and board of alderman approved a resolution for a 2 % sales tax Tuesday night.
Mayor William Hill says the city hopes to collect close to $50,000 annually with half of that money going to Louisville’s parks and recreation department in an effort to boost tourism in the area.
The referendum will be voted on June 4th.
