Video: MSU Hosts Economic Development Seminar

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-A healthy downtown leads to a healthy community.

That’s one lesson community leaders took away from a seminar on the MSU Campus today. The Stennis Institute hosted economic developers from across the region for the one day gathering. Organizers say in the economic development game, Companies do judge a book by its cover and many times that cover is downtown.

Brad Blalock of Amory said, “Main Street is very important to a town. It is the lifeblood of the town. It spurs economic development because when people come to town they want to see your Main street area they want to see something nice and a lot of involvement and so main street is very important to economic development itself.”

The group also stressed the importance of regional partnerships. Today’s seminar was a joint project of Mississippi State and Southern Mississippi
