COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-A new revelation turns up the heat on Columbus Schools Superintendent Martha Liddell as the school board sets another meeting to consider her performance. A story in Monday’s Commercial Dispatch outlines how a consulting business registered in Liddell’s name may violate a contractual ban on outside consulting and business interests. The Dispatch previously has reported Liddell’s using more than $400 worth of school district catering and personnel for a Christmas Party for her friends. Disclosures about the number of days she’s traveled, problems with improper days off for school custodians and other issues have put Liddell in a bad light. Some school leaders have told WCBI the issues alone aren’t major but combined, begin to add up and erode public confidence in her ability to lead. The board meets at 5 Tuesday to discuss Liddell’s performance.
