Video: NMMC Holds ‘Ladies Night’

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – It was the annual North Mississippi Medical Center Spirit of Women’s Night out at Tupelo High School Performing Arts Center. It provided an evening of education and fun for women to get out and spend a little time learning to take better care of themselves. There were several booths offering services. Liz Dawson is the director of Community health at NMMC. She says breast cancer awareness was a major focus at tonight’s event.

“Women need to understand what kind of preventive screenings need to be done at particular times in their life. As far as breast cancer is concerned they need to under stand the earlier you detect it the better your chances are of survival. They also need to understand that there is life after breast cancer.”

Dawson says while lung cancer kills the most women, breast cancer is right up there. There was also information at tonight’s event about the upcoming Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
