TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)-The bulls and their riders are coming to town. Crews at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo are prepping for this weekend’s rodeo.

Crews are spending 12 hours to set up for the Professional Bull Riding Rodeo at the Bancorpsout.

“Looking at 80,000 pounds worth of steel. It takes a simi to hall it,” says Steven Wynkoop

Steven Wynkoop, the coordinator for the event turns the arena into a bull ring, with the help from two volunteers, and over 20 dump trucks of dirt.

But his job doesn’t stop there.

“I’ll be in the back and the bulls you’ll see come out in the arena are being bucked. I’m the guy that does that,” says Wynkoop.

“Each bull rider will get on two bulls per night. So they’re going to get on a minimum of four bulls for the weekend so they’re going to be tired. They’re going to be sore. You’re going to see them getting banged around and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” says Bo Wagner.

Show Producer, Bo Wagner says there will be plenty of fun…and that ain’t no bull.

“We’ve got some fire we got lights we got some cool videos. So it’s really high energy,” says Wagner.

Not everyone is a bull riding fan, but Wagner believes this weekend’s show could change your mind.

“You’ve got to see it live. It’s something watching on TV or hearing about it but coming and watching it live watching these guys get on a two thousand pound bull is something TV doesn’t do it justice,” says Wagner.

The stands are empty now, but the PBR expects them to fill-up quickly for its third trip back to North Mississippi.

The show starts at 8pm Friday and Saturday.

Doors open at 6:30pm.
