WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)-Hundreds of cattle buyers took part in the first cattle auction at Town Creek Farm Saturday.

The event was hosted by Milton Sundbeck the owner and president of Town Creek Farm in West Point.

At least 400 buyers from the southeastern part of the United States were bidding on commercial Brangus bred female cows and bulls.

Sundbeck says the auction is even using modern technology to keep the cattle and workers safe.

“The old way to do it was to bring cattle into a rig and have the live animal. That takes more time and animals are subject to injury. It happens all the time. And also injury to the people that are working with them. And it’s much easier to video the cattle a few days before the sales and then we show the video of them,” says Milton Sundbeck.

This will be an annual event held every year in October.
